Our Management Team


Michael Spanos
 
After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Bentley College, Michael started his career at Harper & Shuman, a software developer providing vertically marketed accounting and project management solutions.  Michael’s roles and responsibilities included providing pre and post sales application support, network support, implementation, internal documentation, end-user training, programming, QA and applications development.  In addition to his full-time position, Michael began assisting small businesses with their technology issues in his spare time. 

Michael then moved to Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) and at the same time continued to assist small business in his spare time.  In addition, Michael obtained his Masters Degree in Computer Information Systems.  While at IRI, Michael worked with Fortune 500 clients providing various levels of support and services for multi-platform, multi-dimensional (OLAP) database technologies, Decision Support Systems (DSS), Executive Information Systems (EIS), Financial Management and Analysis applications.  After three years, Michael’s hard work earned him an advancement IRI’s internal automation group where, as part of a small team, he helped design, roll out and support a world-wide groupware infrastructure.

Continuing to see the recurring theme of small businesses needlessly spending resources on inappropriate or improperly implemented technologies, Michael recognized the need and the demand for high-quality technical services in the small and medium business market.  Michael departed IRI in 1994 and started Business Systems Consultants as his full-time endeavor.  The company was incorporated in 1996 as Business Systems Consultants, Inc. (BSCI) and today Michael and his team at BSCI provide a broad range of Voice and Data Technology services to over 135 clients.

A business professional, technologist, entrepreneur, and investor with over 20 years of experience in a variety of markets and industries, Michael Spanos has an extensive background in both business and technology.  In addition to overseeing the BSCI team, Michael is active in the local community’s public athletics department as well as serves on the Board of Directors of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce.

Michael Lovasco 
Mike began his career with BSCI in as a Technical Support Intern while pursuing his Computer Science degree at Salem State College.  Mike gradually advanced his way into the Senior Network Engineer position.  With continued training and dedication, Mike earned the promotion to Director of Operations in 2009 where he continues to run the day-to-day operations of the Help Desk and Senior Level Support Team as well as overseeing the Procurement Department.  Mike also manages various projects within BSCI and specializes in Office Relocations, Network Infrastructure Design and Implementation as well as Telephony/VoIP Systems Implementation and Management. 

Prior to BSCI, Mike worked in the Accounting Office at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy assisting with the conversion from a paper filing system to an Electronic Document Management System in addition to assisting with the design and implementation of a Resource Reservation Database.   Prior to that he worked in sales selling a Java-based Web Design Solution.

Mike holds technical certifications that include CompTIA A+ and Network+ and Microsoft Certified Professional.  In his free time, Mike enjoys golfing, basketball, hiking, playing music (specifically drumming), watching Boston sports teams and considers himself a connoisseur of fine cigars.

Dean Leahy 
Education: Bachelor of Arts in English, Salem State College 1993, Magna Cum Laude

Dean entered the IT industry as a software support technician in 1998 working for a number of software companies in the Boston area supporting their applications and related software. After serving in supervisory positions in the software industry, Dean later changed his focus to systems and worked in first small, and later enterprise wide operations supporting both workstations, related hardware and software, and Telecom systems for voice and data.

Having worked extensively in end user support, Dean was elevated to the network sytems team, assuming the role of Network Administrator and later managing enterprise network operations for a firm of 200+ servers in the capacity of Network Engineer. In this role, Dean utilized and supported a wide range of technologies while pursuing advanced training in Microsoft Windows Server technologies.

Dean joined Business Systems Consultants, Inc in 2008 as a Senior Network Engineer. While administering IT needs for BSCI clients, Dean earned certification in VMware virtualization technologies. In January of 2011, Dean was promoted to the position of Manager, Managed Services Operations Center, managing the daily operations and continuing development of the technical group at BSCI.

In his spare time, Dean enjoys golfing, fishing, reading and spending time with his two sons and his wife.
